Market@May 26: Day's report

Software stocks opened weak in the morning and came under further selling later. Satyam and SSI were the first to hit the lower circuit. Other software stocks also remained weak.

FMCG stocks were in great demand. HLL hit the 12 per cent upper circuit. P&G, Colgate, Nestle, and Cadbury also hit the upper circuit. Cement stocks also remained in demand. Other pivotals like MTNL, ITC, SBI, Reliance also remained firm.

Sensex up 87 points at 4086. Nifty up 29 points at 1276.

Himachal, Satyam Computer, Infosys, Silverline and Zee Tele topped the trading volumes accounting for 52 per cent of the total traded volumes on the BSE.

Gainers: Between 5 per cent and 7.9 per cent
India Cements, Hinduja Finance, Hind Lever Chem, Bata, Kesoram, Indian Shaving, Hero Honda, Godrej Soaps, Ami Computers, Salora Int, Alpic Finance.

Losers: Between 12 per cent and 7.9 per cent
Wipro, Satyam, Digital Equipment, SSI, Hughes Soft, Polaris, TV 18, Advent Comp, Crest Com, Tata Telecom, Mastek, Ram Info, Amex Info, Melstar, Peerless Shipping, CMC.

Losers: Between 7.9 per cent and 5 per cent
Zee Tele, Global Tele, Pentamedia, DSQ Soft, NIIT, Rolta, M&M, HCL Tech, Tata Elxsi, Aptech, Orient Info, Visualsoft, Computech, Goldstone Tech, Fortune Info, Tata Finance.
