Market@April 18: Day's report

After a long time, sentiment showed a smart improvement. Infosys, Satyam, Wipro, Digital, Himachal, NIIT, Global, Silverline, Pentamedia, DSQ Software and SSI managed to hit 16 per cent upper circuit.

Old economy counters also gained smartly. Reliance, ACC, Ranbaxy, Tisco, HPCL, BPCL, Telco, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Tata Power, Tata Tea, Cipla, and Sterlite Optical recorded impressive gains.

The trading volume was also significantly higher on both exchanges.

Sensex up 127 points at 3439. Nifty up 38 points at 1105.

Gainers: Between 5 per cent and 7.89 per cent
