Market@April 26: Day's report

The sentiment for software stocks turned negative, and the downtrend gathered momentum during the second half of the day. Global Tele, Himachal, and DSQ Software hit the lower circuits at 16 per cent. Digital Equipment, Satyam, Zee Tele, Pentamedia, SSI, and Silverline also lost substantailly.

Old economy counters also witnessed selling pressure during the second half. Reliance Petroleum, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hero Honda and Sterlite Optical however showed impressive gains.

Sensex lost 44 points at 3557. Nifty declined 13 points at 1141.
