Market@February 6: Day's report

Except for the last 30 minutes of trading, tech stocks remained firm for a major part of the day. The trading in HFCL was frozen for 25 minutes on the BSE and the stock dipped sharply on the NSE meanwhile causing panic. This affected other stocks also. DSQ Software was a major gainer. It was up more than 6 per cent. Wipro also gained more than 2 per cent. Silverline was down 3 per cent.

In the non-software segment, counters like Telco, Tata Power, M&M, Reliance Capital, Castrol, Ashok Leyland, Century, Indo Gulf, Tata Tea, ICICI, and Punjab Tractors remained in limelight.

Sensex gained 5 points at 4375, Nifty rose 4 points at 1387.
