Market@February 7: Day's report

The sentiment for software stocks remained extremely negative. SSI lost more than 9 per cent. Himachal, Zee Tele, Digital Equipment and Silverline also declined 6 per cent each. Other stocks remained under pressure. ITC lost 10 per cent with an all-time high volume of 3.37 million shares on BSE.

Old economy stocks showed a mixed trend. Counters like Telco, L&T, Reliance Petro, Reliance Capital, HLL, Tata Power and IPCL managed to attract strong buying.

Sensex down 61 points at 4313. Nifty down 17 points at 1370.
