Increased allocation for PMO

Allocations for the Prime Minister's Office, Council of Ministers and the elite Special Protection Group have gone up by over Rs 200 million in the General Budget presented in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

The Cabinet Secretariat has got a major share of the budget for the Cabinet with an increase of over Rs 120 million from previous year's allotment of Rs 240.4 million.

Funds for the PMO have gone up marginally from Rs 107.6 million to Rs 113.3 million to cover salaries, travel and office expenses while the SPG, which provides security to the Prime Minister, his predecessors and their immediate family members, has got Rs 835.8 million against last year's figure of Rs 761.2 million.

According to the Budget papers, expenditure on hospitality and entertainment of the Cabinet Secretariat has also been slightly increased from Rs 11.3 million to Rs 12.6 million.
