Market@May 15: Day's report

The opening for software stocks was extremely weak, but a smart recovery took place from their respective lows.

Wipro managed to gain 4 per cent and Sterlite Optical hit 8 per cent upper circuits. Digital, Satyam, Infosys and Zee also recovered smartly from their lows.

The old economy counters also showed a smart recovery. Reliance, Tata Power, Nestle, Grasim and Gujarat Ambuja gained smartly. The media stocks also remained in great demand. The trading volume was relatively high.

Sensex up 8 points at 3577. Nifty up 6 points at 1147.

Gainers: Between 5 per cent to 7.9 per cent
Castrol, TVS Suzuki, ETC Network, Creative Eye, ICI India, Gati Corp.

Losers: Between 7.9 per cent to 16 per cent
