Three ZAP Computers bosses nabbed in Delhi

The Delhi cops on Wednesday arrested three senior executives of a leading computer training chain on charges of breach of trust and cheating even as it began probing possible underworld links of the company in Bombay.

Acting on a complaint by 150 students of the Rajouri Garden (West Delhi) centre of Zap Computers that the franchisee had downed its shutters overnight after charging up to Rs 18,000 from each student, police arrested the firm's regional manager Sushil Bhan, zonal manager (north) Anshuman Mathur and media promotion executive Deepanjan Lahiri, Deputy Commissioner of Police Kewal Singh said.

Alleging that the operations of the chain were "remote controlled" from Bombay, Singh said, "The franchisees here used to send all the fees to Bombay and in return get a lump sum. All the chain's executive directors are based in Bombay and all major decisions are taken there."

Without directly confirming a link between Karachi-based underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and the computer chain, he said, "It could be anyone - Dawood or Chhota Shakeel or Chhota Rajan. We are sure that the chain was a mask. There are hidden people."

"The focus of the investigations will shift to Bombay and the Delhi police will send a special team to Bombay to investigate the nexus," he said.

What began as a cheating case is likely to end up in a major expose, Singh added.
