Kelkar takes over as advisor to finance minister

Renowned economist Vijay Kelkar on Monday took over as advisor to Finance Minister Jaswant Singh in the rank of minister of state, an official announcement said.

Kelkar, who has held various positions in the government and multilateral institutions was finance secretary before he took up a three-year assignment in the International Monetary Fund as India's executive director that ended on July 31.
