Defence requirements to be met in Budget: Sinha

Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha has said India's defence requirements would be given top priority in the Union Budget for 2002-2003 in view of the present situation on the border as well as the terrorist activities inside the country.

All defence requirements of the country would be taken care of in the coming Budget, he told reporters in Hazaribagh Tuesday evening.

Sinha said he has already given the final touches to the Union Budget to be presented in Parliament on February 28.

On the growing ISI (Inter Services Intelligence) activities in Jharkhand, particularly in his Hazaribagh parliamentary constitutency, Sinha said it is a matter of serious concern and it has been proved that the network has spread to Hazaribagh. The Centre, on its part, has left no stones unturned to contain the ISI activities in the country, the minister added.
