Mamata to back Congress' deputy speaker nominee

Trinamul Congress leader Mamata Bannerjee has maintained that her party would support Congress nominee P M Sayeed for the post of Lok Sabha deputy speaker.

According to sources, some other BJP coalition partners have also expressed their desire to support Sayeed.

Though intense discussions are on for the deputy speaker's election, Speaker Ganti Mohana Chandra Balayogi is yet to announce a schedule for the election of his deputy.

Congress leader Sharad Pawar has said that they would meet the Speaker to urge him to announce the schedule at the earliest.
