Police sends report to NHRC
on Ansal Plaza encounter

A day after receiving a notice from the National Human Rights Commission on a recent encounter in a posh shopping mall in the city, Delhi Police Commissioner R S Gupta on Thursday submitted a 'partial compliance report' to the rights body.

The NHRC has also asked the police to provide security Dr H Krishna, an eyewitness to the encounter at Ansal Plaza in South Delhi on November 3.

Krishna in interviews given to some Delhi newspapers has said the two persons killed in the encounter were unarmed and were "slapped and kicked" before being shot.

The Delhi police have, however, denied this. They maintain that the two persons killed were Lashkar-e-Tayiba terrorists trained in Pakistan.

The NHRC acted on a complaint filed by Member of Parliament Kuldip Nayar and journalist Praful Bidwai.
