NSCN-K condemns ceasefire agreement with Centre

National Socialist Council of Nagaland chairman S S Khaplang has condemned the ceasefire agreement between the Union government and the NSCN (Isaac-Muivah).

Khaplang said his party (NSCN-K) had nothing to do with the agreement.

He described Prime Minister I K Gujral's statement in Parliament that the NSCN-K also supported the ceasefire as ''baseless and malicious''.

Khaplang said his faction considered the agreement as another act of ''treachery'' to divide the Nagas.

His statement, observers say, might affect the proposed peace talks.
